ONLINE 1-ON-1 TUTORING
Learn French or Spanish
from wherever you are
Private one-on-one lessons with Heidi; a qualified, experienced tutor with postgraduate training and years of real teaching experience. Same quality as in-person, at a time that actually works for you and your busy schedule.
Why online tutoring works.
You do not need to be in the same room to make real progress.
There is a persistent idea that online language learning is somehow less effective than sitting across a table from someone. In practice, after years of teaching both, Heidi has found that the difference is negligible — and for a lot of students, online is actually better.
You are in a familiar, comfortable environment. You are not adding a drive to your lesson saving you time and money. You can pull up resources on your own screen in real time. And because the lesson is just between the two of you, nothing is diluted nor overlooked.
Some of my most engaged students are the ones I have never met in person. The format removes every barrier except the language itself, which is exactly where the focus should be.
Every online lesson uses shared documents, interactive exercises and real-time pronunciation feedback which are the same tools used in any good classroom, delivered without the logistical overhead.
Work around your schedule
Early morning before work, lunch breaks, evenings — online lessons flexible to fit your day without adding travel time.
No commute, no parking, no rushing
You arrive at your lesson relaxed and ready to focus, not frazzled from traffic. That matters more than people realize.
Everything is organised
Shared docs, vocabulary lists and lesson notes are all in one place after every session — easy to review and build on.
Learn from anywhere
Whether you are in Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine, across the state or anywhere in the world, location is no longer a factor in receiving quality tutoring.
Same personalized approach
Online does not mean generic. Your lessons are still tailored around you — your goals, your level, your pace.
Inside a Lesson.
What actually happens in a 45-minute session.
No two lessons are the same because no two students are the same. But every session follows a rhythm that has been refined over years of teaching. There is enough structure to create real momentum, enough flexibility to meet your goals.
The first session is always a relaxed conversation about where you are and where you want to be and how we will work together to reach that goal. After that, every lesson is built on the prior one.
01 - Warm-up and review
We start with something light — a quick conversation, a vocabulary recap, or a short dialogue. This approach trains the brain in the language before moving on to more intense work begins.
02 - Focused work on your priority areas
This is the core of the lesson. Could be grammar, speaking practice, exam technique, business vocabulary, pronunciation — whatever you need most that week.
03 - Conversation practice
Every lesson includes time to just speak. Real topics, natural back-and-forth, immediate feedback when something sounds off — we correct errors, make adjustments and this is where it all comes together.
04 - Recap and next steps
We close with a summary of what was covered, any useful notes sent straight to you and a clear idea of what to do before the next lesson — nothing overwhelming, just what will actually help.
Who this is for - All levels welcome.
Online lessons work for a wide range of students.
Working professionals
You do not have time to drive somewhere after work. A lesson at 7pm from your living room is realistic. A lesson at 7pm after fighting through Jacksonville traffic is not.
Pre-travel learners
Heading to France or a Spanish-speaking country in the next few months? A short intensive course of online lessons increases your confidence and fluency quickly — practical vocabulary, not just textbook phrases.
Students and exam candidates
Preparing for AP Exams, university entry or a school examination. We work through past papers, exam technique and the specific skills that assessors are actually looking for.
Professionals with a specific need
Healthcare workers needing medical Spanish, lawyers or business people with French-speaking clients, hospitality staff at international properties — language training built around your actual work.
Complete beginners
Never studied French or Spanish before? Good. Starting from zero with a patient, qualified tutor is one of the most effective ways to learn — there are no bad habits to undo.
Returning learners
You studied French in high school or college years ago; most of it is still in there somewhere! The right sessions will bring it back faster than you expect and fix the gaps that school left behind.
Delivered via Microsoft Teams or Google Meet.
Both platforms are free to use. If you already use one for work, that is the right choice. If you have never used either, Google Meet is the simpler place to start — no download needed, runs in any browser.

What students say.
From students who learn online with Heidi.
“I took French in high school and have only recently retired. I told myself I would pick it up again when I had the time. I have now completed 4 of the 10 lessons. It’s been easy to organise the lessons as Heidi is super flexible. I am excited to keep going with my French studies and I am understanding more and more.”
— N. Fugina, Texas, USA“I absolutely loved Heidi’s way of teaching. I took 10 weeks of tutoring to rebuild my confidence and get my French back to the level I needed before travelling to France for a work secondment.
Heidi’s approach is incredibly flexible and tailored to what you actually need, which made every lesson feel useful, practical and enjoyable. Her support has been invaluable for my trip, and I honestly cannot recommend her enough.
— Valerie H, Jacksonville Beach, FL, USA"I booked 5 lessons with Heidi to improve my Spanish as I was going on a ski trip to Argentina with friends. I’m based in France and Heidi was really accommodating my time zone and it was really early for her! We used Google Meet for our lessons and I am now back from my trip and it went really well as I was the only Spanish speaker. I am going to have another 5 lessons as we are returning next summer to Chile for more skiing."

-
A device with a camera and microphone, a laptop, tablet or even a phone will work. A stable internet connection and a quiet space where you are comfortable speaking out loud. That’s all you need.
-
Google Meet requires nothing more than a Gmail account and a browser — no download, no setup. If you choose Teams, Heidi will walk you through it before your first lesson. Neither is complicated and you will not be left to figure it out alone.
-
Once a week is the minimum for consistent progress. Twice a week is better if your schedule allows. The most important thing is regularity — a lesson every week for three months will always benefit you more than a lesson every few weeks for a year.
-
Yes. If you are in Jacksonville Beach or the surrounding areas, you can do in-person sessions at The Language Coach and switch to online whenever it is more convenient. Plenty of students do exactly that.
-
Most students with no prior experience can hold a basic conversation after 6 to 8 weeks of weekly lessons. With twice-weekly lessons, that timeline roughly halves. A lot depends on how much you engage between session; even 10 minutes a day of listening makes a significant difference in terms of fluency.
-
Yes! 48 hours’ notice is all that is needed. Heidi works mornings, lunchtimes and evenings to accommodate different schedules and rescheduling rather than cancelling is always the preference.
-
Yes. In addition to French and Spanish, Heidi also offers English tutoring which is useful for non-native speakers living in or relocating to the Jacksonville Beach area.
